Canoe Season: Spring 2010
With the warmer weather, we launched the floating studio. The water levels were just high enough to navigate up the Salt Creek but not so high we suffered from muscle burn going up river. The sunshine, the art, the natural beauty are all conspiring to free my spirit for more creative work.
Empty water vessels are a potent symbol for the direction I want to move with the Waterways Project. I'm making big plans for the summer and will let you know what's happening. But for now, this is an ancient vessel I drew at the Field Museum last week.
If you'd like to watch another short video clip and see more vessel drawings, you can vist my blog.

Its lovely to see the hint of green spring from the water.
Water vessels, what a great idea! The sketch of this old vessel looks quite interesting. The concept has lots of possibilities.
Thanks and it will certainly bring me to some new places.
I've been busy with Planning Hearings all week - it's really great to come and view your canoe journeys when feeling hassled by urban space (or lack thereof!)
So nice sitting in leaky gauldron with you and wanting ti put hand out to touch the water by...and your vessel looks great and an interesting project to look forward to..that is really a great idea...unlimited possibilities!

It is very nice to get back outside! The weather here has been wonderful and I hope it lasts.
Ahhh! Spring!
tranquillity - wonderful - wish I was there!
What a wonderful little trip you've taken us on! Here the spring is much more advanced--and somehow the cold, cold winter has made the greening come sooner and more luxuriantly. I'm eager to see what you're going to be up to with your empty vessels!
Thanks people. Keep fingers crossed for me...have a big waterways meeting tomorrow and will tell all soon.
