Of Ice and Ink

This last week, Chicago has been in the deep freeze and here is a bit of ice from the Des Planes River. Only four more months till the Des Planes River Canoe Marathon.

A few posts ago, Katherine suggested I post my ink flow results and I've posted a discussion on my blog if you'd care to take a look.

I'm getting really fascinated by the shapes that ice makes in water which moves.

Have you seen my ice pics from the 8th Jan?

I did see them and the jagged edges are so interesting. Ice has such personality.

this is such a good photo, lindsay... the three layers of differently frozen ice, how fascinating...

Thanks Vivien and Gesa. I had to keep my camera tucked inside my jacket for that day of shooting.

Ice formations are amazing to examine and this image is no different. At work I have a whole book on ice, its formation, etc. I have a strange job... :)

Occasionly pack ice comes into the shore in spring here and the shapes and lovely turquoises in the shadows is beautiful.

That ice book must be very interesting. How lucky for you that you get to look at ice as part of your day job!
